Calhoun 24 Hour Release Check
The Calhoun County Sheriff's jail page is the official starting point. It does not offer a button labeled “last 24 hours,” a same-day report, or a separate route for today's releases. The sheriff instead says every booked person stays online for at least one week with a released date. That wider span should include a recent same-day event, but only the date on the individual entry can place it inside the desired one-day period.
This detail matters. “At least one week” describes minimum display time, not an exact archive range. The sheriff gives no public refresh schedule, maximum retention period, or release-time field. A person visible today may have left several days ago. A person absent from the page may have a spelling difference, an older record, or a transfer. Absence is not proof of release.
The official sheriff jail source shows how this local display works:
Its one-week rule makes the page useful for a manual daily check while also showing why it is not a true 24-hour feed.
Check Calhoun Same-Day Releases
Set a clear boundary before searching. For a calendar-day inquiry, compare the sheriff's released date with the local date in Mississippi. If the question is a rolling 24-hour span, a date without a time cannot prove the event falls within that exact interval. The jail docket or a direct sheriff response is needed when the hour matters.
- Open the official Calhoun County Jail page and locate the person's name.
- Read the displayed released date. Keep only entries dated within the intended day.
- If the name is highlighted, follow it to VINE, choose More Info, and read the event and feeding agency.
- Check MDOC only when the person was sentenced to state custody or waiting for an MDOC bed.
- Ask the sheriff for the jail-docket entry when the date is absent, too old, or disputed.
For one known person rather than a day-wide scan, the Calhoun County released-inmate search path adds court, state, and federal routes. Those sources answer different questions. MDOC does not cover an ordinary county bond release, and a court order may precede the time jail staff finish discharge processing.
Note: Record the source and check time because a short-lived online entry can change after the first review.
Calhoun 24 Hour Release Fields
The sheriff's published instructions support a narrow field list. Extra facts may appear on a live record, but they are not promised for each booking. In particular, the research does not confirm an exact release time, reason, bond amount, booking number, destination, court, or arresting agency on every public entry.
| Documented field or route | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Name or highlighted name | Identifies the displayed booking and may link into VINE. |
| Released date | Shows the date Calhoun recorded the end of that jail episode. |
| VINE detail route | Can show the custody event and agency needed to distinguish release from movement. |
| Gray image in VINE | May reveal the booking photo when one is available. |
A released date ends Calhoun's local custody episode. It does not always mean the person went home. The jail holds pretrial defendants, people serving county terms, municipal prisoners, supervision holds, people waiting for an MDOC or Community Corrections bed, and people held for other agencies. Each class can leave by a different route.
Calhoun Bond Release Records
The sheriff's jail page publishes a county-specific list of commercial bonding companies. That confirms bond-out as a recognized path from Calhoun County Jail. Yet the page does not publish a bond schedule, payment rules, processing time, or a pretrial-services program. A same-day disappearance cannot safely be labeled a bond release without the released entry and the court record.
Justice Court handles county misdemeanors, preliminary felony matters, and bond hearings. Circuit Court handles felony prosecutions and appeals. An originating Municipal Court controls a city case. A signed bond or release order explains the legal authority, while the jail-docket discharge entry records the physical custody endpoint. Preserve both dates if they differ.
- Bond release
- Physical release under court-set conditions while the criminal case may continue.
- Dismissal
- A court outcome ending a charge, which is distinct from the time jail processing ended.
- Transfer
- Movement from Calhoun custody to another custodian, not a community release.
Calhoun Release Record Fallbacks
When no recent entry remains, contact the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office at 178 South Murphree Street, Pittsboro, Mississippi 38951. The main telephone is 662-412-5000 and is marked available 24 hours. Administrative office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The general contact email is not monitored without pause, so urgent custody questions should not wait on that channel.
A focused written request should identify the full name, approximate booking date, and known case or booking number. Ask for the jail-docket entry, booking sheet, release date and time, and release type or destination if recorded. The Mississippi county retention schedule makes the jail docket permanent and includes the date of discharge. The inmate case file is retained for 25 years after release, although exemptions and redaction can still limit what is disclosed.
VINE is the next custody-event check. It can distinguish release, transfer or facility move, temporary movement, escape or abscond supervision, and return to custody. The responsible court can explain bond, dismissal, sentence, or revocation. MDOC applies only to state custody. A current MDOC location means the person did not simply return to the community from Calhoun.
Note: Ask for an electronic copy and a cost estimate because the sheriff publishes no fixed records fee schedule.
Calhoun Sheriff App Release Limits
The sheriff announced its official Calhoun County Sheriff MS app in 2019. Current iOS and Android listings show a maintained official channel. Their public descriptions support news, communications, tips, and interactive features. They do not promise an inmate roster, release list, released date, or booking-photo tool.
The official app announcement documents the app's local purpose:
Use the app for only the functions visible in the installed version. A custody feature should not be assumed from the general app description or from features offered by another county's sheriff app.
The app cannot replace the jail docket. News and tip tools may help someone reach the sheriff, but they do not establish when a person left custody or where that person went. If an installed version later shows an inmate feature, compare its date and agency with the official jail entry. Save the direct source rather than a screen with no time or context. For a past Calhoun release, the written county record remains the durable proof.
Calhoun Released Versus Transferred
A person still shown without a released date may remain in the Calhoun jail episode. A person with a released date has reached the end of that local episode, but the destination still needs review. Someone waiting for an MDOC bed may appear in the state inmate search after intake. A person held for another county, USMS, or ICE may move into that agency's custody.
| Finding | Next check |
|---|---|
| Calhoun released date and VINE release event | Confirm the court disposition if the legal reason matters. |
| Calhoun entry ends and MDOC location appears | Treat it as a state transfer, not release home. |
| No online Calhoun entry | Request the permanent jail-docket discharge entry. |
| Court order but no jail time | Ask the jail when operational discharge was completed. |
Match more than a name. A common name can produce records from unrelated bookings, and VINE can display more than one agency event. Compare the booking date, Calhoun agency, court context, and any identifier available. If two sources disagree, note what each source said and when it was checked. Ask the record owner to explain the conflict instead of choosing the date that best fits an assumption.
For a broader review across three dates, use the Calhoun County Jail Releases: 72 Hours page. The wider check helps when the exact day is uncertain, but it still relies on manual date review rather than a dedicated sheriff filter.
